On March 3, 2012, local legend Jackie Stiles will present a unique opportunity for Ozark basketball families. Stiles will host a Parent/Child Basketball clinic.
The format of the event is set up to help families maximize the great opportunity basketball presents for family bonding. The clinic is open to all athletes, male and female, in grades 3 to 8; and both mothers and fathers. Individual and small group instruction will be provided by Jackie. There will be skill and drill work, as well as, competition. Families can compete together, learn together and hear perspectives on how basketball can be a tool to foster a great parent /child relationship. Special emphasis will be placed on how to become “the supportive parent” as your child follows their basketball dreams.
The event will be held at the Greenwood School Gymnasium; 1024 East Harrison, Springfield, MO. It will run from 1 pm to 4 pm.
A local Springfield, MO icon, Stiles is the all-time leading scorer in the history of women’s college basketball. She led her Southwest Missouri State team to the 2001 National Final Four and was named the National Player of the Year. Jackie was named the WNBA Rookie of the year when she played professionally for the Portland Fire.
